The northbound PLUS highway cuts straight through Perak — Slim River and Bidor, up past Tapah and Gopeng, on to Ipoh, Kuala Kangsar and Taiping — and it is the Tapah–Bidor stretch where vehicles most often get stranded far from the nearest town or workshop.
